"My biggest fear was the pain, which never materialized" - James

As a tennis player, James was having problems with shoulder range of motion and lack of strength due to burst tendons. Two years out from surgery, the pain is non-existent for the most part. He is able to do most activities he could in the past. He plays tennis 5-6 days a week. He still swims on either side, side stroke, breast stroke, back stroke. He also uses his bike. It was just a matter of adapting to a new shoulder. His biggest fear going into the surgery was the potential for a lot of pain. As James lives alone, he actually almost went to live with his son and his wife, but the doctor reassured him that the pain would be manageable, which it was. He kept his followup visits with a nurse and 3 times a week he had in-home physical therapy. To his surprise, he never did take any of the pain medications he was given other than for 3 days after the surgery...
