This is a relatively uncommon procedure that can be very beneficial in cases of patellar instability where the primary risk factor is severe trochlear dysplasia. The technique allows correction of the TT-TG distance not by moving the tubercle (and indirectly the patella) but by moving the groove laterally and allowing the patella to track where the soft tissue and muscular balance dictates...
