Robotic Ethanol Sclerotherapy for Ovarian Endometrioma
by Dr. Danny Chou | 16 days ago
Robotic ethanol sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive, fertility-preserving technique for treating ovarian endometriomas without removing the cyst wall. The procedure involves draining the cyst, instilling ethanol to destroy the lining, and then removing it—reducing recurrence while preserving healthy ovarian tissue. Compared to traditional cystectomy, it minimises damage to ovarian reserve and is particularly beneficial for women planning pregnancy or IVF. The robotic approach allows precise control and enables simultaneous treatment of coexisting endometriosis. In selected patients, it offers an effective and less traumatic alternative to conventional surgery.
